Memnon

Memnon, a key port of trade for Calimshan, was the former capital of the efreeti kingdom of Memnonnar. Memnon is situated on the northern border of the Calim Desert, at the mouth of the River Agis, and along the Trade Way.

Memnon is a key trade city for Calimshan. It is that kingdom's northernmost port, and nearly all caravanners on the Trade Way stop there for at least a day regardless of whether they were traveling north or south, as Memnon is on the edge of the Calim Desert. The city thus serves the function of a massive caravanserai, offering inns, stables, repairs, supplies, or entertainment to those having just survived the trek across the desert or to those about to make it.Additionally, Memnon is considered a fishing town, producing both high quantity and high quality of fish, shrimp, and shellfish of many varieties.

Like all cities in Calimshan, Memnon is built on the drudach system.  From smallest to largest sectors, Memnon is divided into drudachs, sabbans, and wards, a new district imposed by Syl-Pasha Pesarkhal in the Year of the Banner (1365 DR). In effect, each sector of the city is walled individually, creating a puzzle piece effect with each district fitting up against its neighborsÂ’ walls. There are 29 sabbans and 8 wards.
